Donald "Duck" Dunn (1941-2012)

Booker T and the MGs
Duck Dunn was an essential member of the Memphis soul scene.  He played bass for Booker T and the MGs (and later for the Blues Brothers) and was the session bassist at Stax Records during the 1960s, where he provided the bass lines for Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Sam and Dave, and Albert King,.  He later played with many other legends -- from Muddy Waters to Eric Clapton.

I was there when that whole funk and soul scene was in full blast. Skip Pitts the guitar player for Issac Hayes died last week, too. All of 'em came from Staxx Studio in Memphis. Rap and Hip Hop will never come close to the artistry and musical genius of that time. Thanks, man.....
