R.I.P. Martin Robles

Roman Colosseum lit to protest an execution
On August 10, 2011, Texas executed Martin Robles, who was convicted of the shooting deaths of John Commisky and Jesus "Chuy" Gonzalez, allegedly two rival gang members.  An accomplice was tried separately and sentenced to life in prison.

Texas Governor Rick Perry has now presided over 235 executions, more than any other Governor in modern history.

Robles was the 31st person executed in the United States in 2011, the ninth in Texas.
