Jazz Interlude: Sonny Rollins
Epic performance of St. Thomas by my favorite saxophone player, Sonny Rollins, with Kenny Drew on piano, Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen on bass and Albert "Tootie" Heath on drums. I believe this is taken from a 1968 date in Denmark. As one critic aptly said about Rollins he is "the single most enduring tenor saxophonist of the bebop and hard bop era, but also the greatest contemporary jazz saxophonist of them all."
